A recurring theme in my training in Iaido, and one that was also discussed in Aikido as well. Don't hold back, fold, crumble, withdraw....extend your body and your spirit, and own the space/path in front of you...time to train...
I am a former United States Marine, and have been interested in Japan's culture and martial arts since I was a kid. My passion for Budo is all my Dad's and Chuck Norris' fault! I started formal training (versus playing Ninjer with my brother and I beating the shit out of each other in the back yard) when I was 14, and I have kept at it spiritually , if not always physically, ever since. I have a shodan in an Americanized/mongrelized karate style that I am reluctant to mention, but through which I have met some really good people, a few squirrels/goofballs as well, but they just keep life 'interesting'...
I have a Nidan in Kyudo, and am currently training in Aikido and Mugai-ryu Iaido, all of which means....jack squat, just that I need to train more!!
